The fifth edition of the annual event runs from September 20th – 22nd, straight after the 3D Entertainment Summit and boasts a line up of 14 feature films and 40 shorts.

World premiers include comedy horror Spiders 3D and steampunk anime War of the Worlds: Goliath in 3D. The 3DFF Horrorshow returns this year with a Friday Double Feature on September 21.  It starts at 10 p.m. with “Piranha 3DD” presented by Dimension Films.  At midnight is the US premiere of “Night of the Living Dead 3D: Re-animation” presented by Screen Media Films.

The new Opening Night Pre Show program will showcase the World Premieres of Katy Perry’s “Wide Awake” Music Video in 3D and Foster The People’s hit single “Pumped Up Kicks” from the 3net original 3D music series From the Basement, along with never before seen clips and trailers from upcoming studio releases such as “Silent Hill: Revelations” (Open Road Films), “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” (Lionsgate), “The Hobbit” (Warner Brothers), “Rise of the Guardians” (DreamWorks Animation) and “Hotel Transylvania” (Sony Pictures Animation).

Quincy Jones and Claude Nobs, who will appear along with Roger and Julie Corman, will screen the LA Premiere of their first 3D film, “Attack of the 50ft Cheerleader” presented by Epix, on Saturday September 22 at 10:30pm. 

3DFF will also premiere multiple 3D Documentaries during the show including “Storm Surfers 3D” and “River Monsters 3D” by 3net and the World Premieres of “Experience Montreux 3D” by Eagle Rock/Nagra and Jonathan Kay’s ”N’Nai Legend of the Dolphin.

Closing out the Best of 2012 program will be the US Premiere of “Street Dance 2” presented by Phase 4 and Vertigo Films.

“3DFF is pleased to present the 5th Anniversary Edition of our ground breaking program inside our new downtown venue and we intend to show the world that not only is 3D here to stay, but it is in fact growing with leaps and bounds across all media platforms,” commented Christopher Crescitelli, 3DFF Founder and Festival Director who has four projects in the festival as well including a controversial short film entitled “Leviticus” and Tim Carr’s “Give me the Light” 3D Music Video, both of which will be premiering on Closing Night.

3DFF’s signature 3ology Short Film Program will feature more than 40 shorts and music videos from around the globe including the Berkeley Lab’s “Flying Through the Known Universe" 3D Short film which was developed in partnership with the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. The shorts program will also feature “The Legend of the Seagullmen: Battle of the Deep Sea Diver” directed by David Dreyer. 

3net, the 3D TV network partnership from Sony, Discovery and IMAX, will world premiere and preview a number of its 3D programs—all about 50 minutes’ running time—at the festival.  Highlights including Marksmen, a brand-new, never before announced show which is the world’s first 3D stop-motion graphic novel series. Marksmen is a stop-motion graphic novel series that takes viewers into a post-apocalyptic wasteland following the government collapse.
