Cat vision
Have you ever wondered how your pet sees? The Dassault Systemes 'All Eyes on Paris' project puts you in their paws
The real-time 3D internet experience that lets people see through the eyes of several animals including rats, bees, cats, dogs and hawks.
Based on scientific data, the “serious game” simulates animal vision by immersion in an interactive 3D environment. In order to learn whilst having fun the project includes mini-games for each animal where the player works within animal visual constraints to get the best score.
Users are then invited to connect to a dedicated community platform to share, discuss and chat about their experience. The site is scalable and will be enriched with new animal visions with the aim of creating the first reference platform for animal vision on the internet.
There is a wide difference between how humans and animals see, and wide differences between animals themselves. Humans see detail especially well due to our highly efficient acuity. Cats can't perceive the colour red but can track motion very well due to their 280 field of view. Dogs see in a similar way to cats and have 5 times better nightvision than humans. Bees have a multitude of small independent eyes meaning they can see more colour frequencies than humans – useful for distinguishing different plants.
