To use the service, users need to download the LG Cloud app from Google Play or LG SmartWorld app store from their Android smartphones, LG SmartWorld store from their LG Smart TVs or the LG Cloud website (www.lgecloud.com) from their PCs or laptops.

The service will also be compatible with 3D content. This means that an owner of the LG Optimus 3D smartphone called record videos of their holiday in 3D and upload that content to the LG Cloud via 3G or Wi-Fi. Almost instantly, people on the other side of the globe could watch that 3D content on their LG Cinema 3D TV.

3D videos and photos will not need to be downloaded remotely. The service will stream the content through a process called RTS (Real-time Transcoding) that converts and transfers the type(extension) and quality of a file to the optimal type and quality to each replaying device so that a user may enjoy the multimedia files stored in LG Cloud using any kind of devices including TV, mobile phone or PC.

Of course, 2D content will work just as well (including music files) and users will have access to 5GB of storage space for free (50GB if they have purchased a LG Smart TV) with further storage available for a premium.

Despite the cloud storage market becoming increasingly competitive, LG claim this is the only service that will make content playable on all three ‘screens’ – Android smartphones, connected TVs and PCs.
