3D Blu-ray label 3D Content Hub is set to launch in UK after record-breaking success in Germany
‘Best of 3D’ features 15 individual films, ranging from 4 to 30 minutes and totalling 190 minutes. Thirteen global independent film crews and production companies have created their content in countries around the world. Some of the films feature cutting-edge technology, such as capturing images at 2,000 frames per second (fps) or under extreme conditions like underwater, or while skydiving.
The compilation includes extracts from the upcoming Storm Surfers 3D and 3DigitalVision’s 'Fireants 3D – the Invincible Army’.
"3D Content Hub has been our key partner in making Alligator Kingdom 3D the best-selling independent 3D documentary worldwide," said Michael Watchulonis, Emmy-nominated Executive Producer of 3DigitalVision. "We are proud to have our film on the ‘Best of 3D’ Blu-ray and reach an even larger audience.”
Also included are animation titles from Breakthru Films, a studio that recently won the Oscar (Academy Award) as well as music videos and action sports sequences.
'Best of 3D' is currently exclusively available on Amazon Germany and sold out within 3 days when it was released on August 3rd. It is now enjoying the top spot for non-fiction 3D Blu-ray and attracted good Amazon customer reviews.
This is good news for the producers involved who are enjoying royalties for every DVD sold and shows there can be money to be made from 3D, especially as people look for content to watch on their 3D TVs.
3DContent Hub’s founder Torsten Hoffmann points out: “Our research shows that the German-speaking 3D Home Entertainment market is the largest in the world with most 3D Blu-rays, more than hundred titles, available to consumers today. Hence, this is where we started our project. The ‘Best of 3D’ compilation is a selection of the most awesome 3D content from all over the world. We want to give new owners of 3D TVs a Blu-ray to try out, or shall we say, show off their new hardware.” In the next few months the label is rolling out this Blu-ray in other markets, notably France, UK, Ireland, and India. However, no partners have been identified for the USA and Canada yet.
The company is already working on part 2 of the ‘Best of 3D’ compilation and is seeking independent 3D producers as well as distribution partners.
