Toyota 86 App 475x308 The world’s largest augmented reality car revealed

A video, filmed for Toyota in Dubai, shows a CG model of the Toyota 86 sports coupé drive through a massive area on an iPad screen.

The Toyota 86 AR app (available on iOS at the AppStore and Android at Google Play) used a giant 9.5m x 6.5m marker.  Positioning the iPad far away from the scene means you get to see the car speed over 120km/h across a large flat sectioned off sanded area, leaving virtual skid-marks, as is life-sized.

There is also an amusing sequence where a person is chased by the virtual car.

This is simply a larger scale way of using the app, which can work on any scale, hence one of the related links is to a video of a Toyota coupe driving around a fish bowl.  All fun, clever marketing stuff!
