Microsoft launch developer programme for Kinect 2
Microsoft is inviting developers to apply for the Kinect for Windows developer kit program to create apps that can take advantage of the super sensitive device.
The program begins in November but not every applicant will receive the tools and pre-release sensor. The ‘winners’ will be announced in August and the deadline to apply is July 31st.
The Kinect 2 is seriously impressive, especially when considering it will be bundled with the X Box One as standard. It's three times as sensitive, meaning it can detect winkles in your clothes and the 60-degree-larger field of view means more people can be detected at once.
The program fee will be US$399 (or local equivalent) and offers direct access to the Kinect for Windows engineering team via a private forum and exclusive webcasts, early SDK and a final consumer version sensor when available.
