Colossus Productions, the 3D production joint venture between Sky and Atlantic Productions, have announced two new David Attenborough 3D docs.

David Attenborough's Natural History Museum Adventure (1x 90’) which will premiere on Sky 3D in December 2013; and a new mini-series Conquest of the Skies (W/T, 2x 90’) will premiere in 2014.
 
Today’s announcement confirms Sky’s commitment to 3D production and continues the successful model of high end 3D natural history production for cinema and 3D television broadcasting.
 
Written and presented by David Attenborough, Natural History Museum Adventure will see him explore the museum after hours, as his favourite ancient creatures come to life in a compelling tale of discovery, adventure and magic for broadcast on Sky 3D this Christmas.
 
It will featuring ground-breaking 3D technology and spectacular CGI effects from the BAFTA® award-winning team behind Flying Monsters 3D and will offer viewers an opportunity to discover one of the world’s greatest natural history collection with David Attenborough’s insight into how these ancient creatures once roamed the planet.
 
David Attenborough commented: “The Natural History Museum has always been a special place for me. I’m excited to make a film using new 3D technology which will take the viewer on a journey through one of my favourite museums and look at it – and its inhabitants – in ways never seen before”.
 
Dr Michael Dixon, Director of the Natural History Museum, commented: “Sharing the wonders of our world-class collections and our scientific expertise is at the heart of what we do at the Natural History Museum. This collaboration gives a fresh take on some of the fascinating inhabitants of the collections, which I hope will inspire and surprise viewers.”
 
Details on the second commission, due for broadcast in late 2014, will be announced in due course but before both shows, the 3D cameras will bring the scary world of insects out of the screen in the MICRO MONSTERS 3D mini-series.
