The startup company Stereofocus Ltd. has released the Stereo-one 3D product line in time for the upcoming Kickstarter campaign on May 13th with the Kipphead, 3D Rig-Slider and 3D Handheld-Rig. All products can be used with professional video or DSLR cameras either in landscape or in portrait mode.
The Stereo-one Kipphead is a mounting solution that makes it easy to change between portrait and landscape modes. If needed, cameras can be detached through the quick release. Fine adjustments for tilt and roll allow quick corrections and with the nodal point extension it can also be used as a panorama head rotating in 90 degree steps.
The Stereo-one 3D Rig-Slider (pictured below) is designed for digital photo and video cameras which can simultaneously control a pair of cameras in interaxial and convergence. Stereographers have the option to change between portrait or landscape mode when shooting in 3D. Another new feature is the adjustable nodal point (point of rotation) which allows the user to shift each camera along different axis (x- and z-axis) apart from convergence rotation to create a more comfortable depth.
Finally, the company is launching the Stereo-one 3D Handheld-Rig suitable for productions in smaller places when it comes to maneuverability and usage.
Ben Deniz (Digital Artist / Stereographer) said: “We were looking for new methods to easily change between portrait or landscape mode while shooting in 3D. This former Idea resulted in numerous functions, new workflows for S3D and brings some major improvements to stereo 3D productions. Our stereo rigs are so far the most flexible camera-rigs on the market in handling two cameras.
We created an easy to use camera rig-slider system that works perfectly with any camera. It was a very difficult process to bring functionality, weight and size together, which lead to different approaches and dozens of prototypes. I am very confident that our redesigned concept of a camera-rig will help to overcome many given limitations and support stereographers in many ways when shooting stereo 3D.
In addition we have also automatised our photography and post-production workflow to just a few clicks and the stereo 3D result can be shown on any screen directly on location.”
