CES 2013: Autostereoscopic specialists Dimenco will introduce Dimenco Nabla – a full HD glasses free 3D solution

Dimenco Nabla is a unique combination of lens design, image processing and Dimenco Clear View offering “unprecedented FHD resolution in both 2D and glasses-free 3D, the best depth performance, widest viewing angle, lowest cross-talk and deepest black levels.”

“Dimenco Nabla is the result of optimizing the proprietary Dimenco lenticular structure in combination with UD (3840X2160) panels. This provides the first glasses-free 3D FHD experience without compromising on, for example, brightness or viewing angle.” said Jan van der Horst, CTO of Dimenco.

One of the biggest disadvantages of lenticular technology is the sacrifice in resolution, a problem Dimenco Nabla aims to resolve. Small details in 2D images are virtually impossible to distinguish and the lens structure is usually very visible.

For Dimenco Nabla, the optical stack and structure has been optimised to improve the perceived 2D and 3D resolution and limit interference of the lens structure.

“Dimenco Nabla will open-up the glasses-free 3D TV market and will offer the best auto-stereoscopic FHD 3D experience and still offer FHD 2D. Dimenco has overcome one of the biggest hurdles for watching 3D without limitations, and we expect that this technology will enter the consumer market in 2013.” says Maarten Tobias, CEO of Dimenco.

Dimenco Nabla will be demonstrated during CES (8th – 11th January 2013 – Las Vegas) at a private suite in the MGM Grand. The technology is ready for licensing, and 3D display products can be acquired via Dimenco.

Dimenco will also be demonstrating the recently announced glasses-free 3D Retina MacBook.
