Dimenco announce Apple MacBook Pro glasses free 3D screen

Autostereo company Dimenco has unveiled a super slim device that converts existing MacBook Pro Retina screens into single viewing glasses free 3D displays.
Although the announcement is of a proof-of-concept rather than a commercial product, the lenticular attachment is said to be an indication of new products to be released soon by the Philips off-shoot.
It is less than 3mm thick and harnesses the inbuilt webcam to track the viewer’s eyes and adjust the picture accordingly, preventing ‘jumps’ in the picture when he or she moves their head, up to an angle of 140 degrees.
Dimenco say that, when combined with the Retina Display’s 2880 x 1800 resolution, the screen is said to hold up to modern day standards.
Toshiba released a dedicated glasses free 3D laptop, the Qosimo F750 last year and SpatialView also released the 3DeeSlide – an overlay that fitted over the screen of several different brands of laptops. However, the content on the 3DeeCentral website has not been updated for over a year, suggesting the add-on was not very popular.
Dimenco’s solution is the first that has been designed to support such a high resolution. For more information about Dimenco visit www.dimenco.eu
