3DGO! enters beta-testing phase
The 3D VOD service from SENSIO Technologies, 3DGO! will launch by the end of the year after many months of testing and signing 3D content licensing deals.
3DGO! is now ready to be tested in the field with a selected group of 3DTV owners to validate the end-to-end experience, from user registration to 3D content viewing. A successful beta-testing phase will trigger the official launch of the service before the end of 2012.
“After months of hard work and development, we are thrilled to begin the first field-trial of the service,” said Nicholas Routhier, President and CEO at SENSIO. “Now that our DRM supported playback solution is up and running, it is time to let real users in the field experiment with 3DGO!. During the next month, they will be testing all aspects of the service to make sure that we have a smooth and easy-to-use service that meets the highest end-user expectations. When we officially launch the service, 3DGO! will be ready for primetime and we are eagerly anticipating to get this exciting and innovative service to the market.”
The dedicated 3D VOD service will be a rental service, offering US connected 3D TV owners streaming content after downloading an app. SENSIO Technologies have signed a deal with National Geographic to add 3D documentary programming. The Montreal based company has also signed a deal with Starz Digital Media, meaning movies like Piranha 3DD and Bait 3D will be available too.
