Masterimage 3D launches full HD glasses free 3D tablet panel
Masterimage 3D will be showcasing a 4.3” 720 resolution glasses free 3D smartphone display and a 10.1” 1200 resolution glasses free 3D tablet display.
Each display uses Masterimage 3D’s unique Cell-Matrix Parallax Barrier Technology.
Regular parallax barrier technology (as used by the Nintendo 3DS) works by providing one strip to act as a barrier for the left eye and the other to act as a barrier for the right eye. An electronic current rapidly switches back and forth between them. Masterimage 3D have created little microscopic cells that are aligned both horizontally and vertically that allows 3D mobile devices to be glasses free 3D in both landscape and portrait modes. It also allows for more light to be able to transmit through because there are more gaps. Masterimage 3D also claim their technology lessens crosstalk. The technology’s wider viewing angle is based on the way the TFT (Thin Film Transistor) sits on top of the TN-LCD.
The Units being shown at CES by MasterImage 3D will run content from MasterImage 3D’s content portal and 3D Media Player, an embedded digital 3D mobile storefront providing MasterImage 3D display partners with streaming premium 3D content and secure e-commerce fulfilment.
Content presented on MasterImage 3D glasses-free 3D technology will include 3D Movie Trailers, National Geographic, Youtube 3D, music videos and animated shorts.
“This technology is truly pioneering for the 3D industry. Literally, never before has anyone seen 3D resolution on a smartphone or tablet that looks so compelling and amazingly beautiful and doesn’t need glasses,” said Roy Taylor, Display EVP and GM, MasterImage 3D. “The ability to view movies, read animated books, take pictures and video clips and play games—all in 3D that’s a joy to look at— is an astonishing breakthrough.”
Masterimage 3D first showcased its 720P resolution glasses free 3D smartphone display at the Flat Panels Display International show in Yokohama, Japan last year after partnering with TFT-LCD display manufacturer Chimei-Innolux Group.
