4D and 5D attractions will dominate new theme park
Paramount’s new theme park – Paramount Park Murcia, will use state-of-the-art 4D and 5D attractions to draw a forecasted 3 million visitors when it opens in 2015.
Located just ten minutes drive from the new international Corvera Airport (currently under construction), Paramount Park Alhama de Murcia will be one of the largest entertainment centres in Europe.
The park will feature the usual mix of themed restaurants, rollercoasters and live shows but also futuristic 4D and 5D attractions based around Paramount owned film titles. There will be five zones – Paseo Paramount, Woodland Fantasy, Adventure City, Plaza Futura and Rango' West.
In the Adventure City zone, Mission Impossible 4D will combine 3D film with effects and scenery as guests ride through an “extraordinary virtual world”.
In the Rango’s West area a 4D ride called “How the West was Sung” will project people into the wild west era. People will need to support the iconic character Rango the Sheriff to "restore order to the city". More traditionally attractions such as a shooting gallery, rollarcoaster and water rapids ride will also feature in the rugged landscaped zone.
In Woodland Fantasy, a "richly textured environment offering exploration of inviting fantasy worlds", people will find The Spiderwick Chronicles – a 5D part ride, part game based on the film of the same name. Guests will be able to interact and score points using remotes as they ride through 3D projected fantasy scenes.
Sleepy Hollow The Ride will use 3D audio and holographic projections to terrify guests but those looking for a more futuristic adventure might prefer the Plaza Futura zone where the key attraction is based on the Star Trek franchise. Motion and projection will take guests “on a journey into the stars”. Joining the Star Trek ride will be War of the Worlds 4D where people will be able to interact with the action around them.
Further details about Paramount’s new venture are very difficult to obtain but reports last year suggested the park’s construction will start in March this year. Like the rest of the UK and Europe, the Spanish economy has greatly suffered during the economic downturn but it appears that the park will definitely go ahead and should prove to be a draw to Spanish citizens and neighbouring countries.
