Queen star, astrophysicist and stereoscopic 3D expert Brian May will talk at the 38th NSA 3D convention in California

The week-long event, put together by the National Stereoscopic Association, starts today and will include workshops, a stereoscopic art exhibition, 3D photography competitions, a trade fair and 3D auction.

On Saturday night (7/28/12) , Brian May will present his 3D documentaryBrief History of 3D” – a historical look at the attempts to make 3D mainstream, from the Victorian era up to the present day. The documentary first aired on Sky 3D in July last year and included a look at the process of authoring his book, 'A Village Lost and Found.'

Joining Brian will be Suzanne Lloyd, granddaughter of the silent movie star Harold Lloyd, to present the Legend3D conversion of Lloyd's film "Safety Last.", as a credit to Harold’s huge interest in stereoscopic imagery.

Lenny Liption will do a talk about his work with RealD and other stereoscopic patents there will be a series presentations and workshops under titles such as "Making High Quality Stereo Images while Hiking and Backpacking" and "Making Phantograms. The producers of The Amazing Spider-Man will also join a panel discussion.

The event will end on Sunday where 3D fans will be able to enjoy an outdoor screening of Jaws 3D in the pool of the Dive-In Theatre at the Hilton in Costa Mesa – very glamorous!
