As BT reveal a massive 320 gigapixel image of London's skyline, Sigma reveal a compact 46-megapixel camera which is available for a pre-order price of less than £700.
Panorama photographer network 360Cities took the 360 degree interactive image of London from the top of the BT and is the currently the world’s most detailed panorama. 48,640 frames were shot over three days by four Canon EOS 7D cameras.
This was followed by three months of computer processing.

If printed at normal photographic resolution, the BT Tower panorama would be 98 meters across and 24 meters tall.
Sigma's announcement represents the next level of resolution for compact cameras for those who don't have that long to process their snaps.
The DP3 Merrill Compact Camera boasts a huge resolution of 46-megapixels and uses a 50 mm f2.8 lens. It was announced a while ago but we now have a launch date of March.
This new camera uses a Foveon X3 direct image sensor which is said to combine the power of digital with the essence of film. The sensor features three layers of pixels embedded in silicon, taking advantage of the fact that red, green and blue light penetrates silicon at different lengths.
This layered approach is similar to how chemical emulsion registers light, capturing full colour at every point in the scene offering a "richer almost 3D feel".
A three-layer Responsive Ultimate Engine 2 processing engine to improve the processing speed and overall quality of images.
Most people would struggle to find a use of such high resolutions but it does offer the ability to zoom into shots . To see an example of this, head over to the BT Tower London 360 site.
