Movie studio Lionsgate has announced an intention to dimensionalise a series of action movies for 3D Blu-ray and V-O-D.

It will be part of a partnership deal with Samsung to increase 3D viewing in the home.

The films “Gamer,” “Crank,” “Bangkok Dangerous” and horror film “The Descent” will be converted to 3D and new Lionsgate titles will also be converted to 3D before their theatrical release.

"The home entertainment market is ripe for a premium technology like 3D, and consumers have consistently demonstrated their willingness to pay for added value," said Jim Packer, Lionsgate’s President of Worldwide Television and Digital Distribution.  "Lionsgate is committed to being an innovator in enhancing the quality of the home entertainment experience for our consumers, and Samsung is an ideal partner to help us fill the release pipeline with commercially exciting films in the best 3D picture quality."

In other 3D movie news, it was announced today that Jurassic Park 3D will be released in IMAX screens for one week only starting April 5th.

“Jurassic Park was groundbreaking when it was originally released, and The IMAX 3D Experience will allow today’s audiences to become fully immersed in one of the most breathtaking epics Universal has ever released,” said president of distribution Nikki Rocco in the statement.
