Vizio launches 21.9 ratio 3D TV in America
US movie aficionados can, for the first time, enjoy true cinema ratio ultra-widescreen 3D entertainment in their own home.
America’s biggest LCD HD company have launched the XVT3D580CM – a 58” LED 3D TV that will not suffer from the black bars at the top and bottom when displaying an anamorphic movie thanks to its 21.9 screen aspect ratio. Philips launched a 21.9 ratio 3D TV in 2010 (In Europe) but all other TVs are based around a 16.9 ratio as all TV programmes are produced in this way. This means that most of the Hollywood films produced in ultra-widescreen (also known as 2.35:1) either have to be zoomed into or be screened in letterbox format for home presentation.
Vizio’s super wide set includes four pairs of passive 3D glasses, a 1,00,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio, SRS StudioSound HDTM audio, built in WiFi, Edge lit Razor LED backlighting and 1.07 billion (10-bit) colours.
The 2560 x 1080p screen and Edge Lit Razor LED™ technology delivers HD at a higher resolution than conventional 1920×1080 resolution. Smart Dimming™ assures a brilliant picture with outstanding contrast and detail.
“As the first to bring a 21:9 aspect ratio, ultra-wide screen 3D HDTV of its kind to the U.S. market, we’re proud to be giving consumers the opportunity to view movies the way they were meant to be enjoyed,” said Matt McRae, Chief Technology Officer, VIZIO. “Not only does the Cinemawide HDTV eliminate the black bars, it also allows movie and tech enthusiasts to get the most out of their HD and 3D experiences with excellent picture quality and VIZIO Internet Apps.”
The XVT Series Cinemawide HDTV features VIZIO’s award-winning Theater 3D technology, providing flicker-free 3D that is up to two times brighter than conventional 3DTVs which should go some way to counter effect the dimness when wearing 3D glasses.
The VIZIO model XVT3D580CM – 58-inch class Cinemawide LED Smart TV with Theater 3D is now available exclusively on VIZIO.com with a special limited time offer of $2499 which is the equivalent of £1600.
