Futuristic Samsung Series 9 3D Monitors Arrive
First revealed at CES 2011, Samsung have announced today the launch of two futuristically styled 3D monitors – The Samsung Series 9 3D LED Monitor (SA950) and HDTV LED Monitor (TA950). Both 27” Series 9 3D monitors are undeniably different in style to the norm with asymmetrical designs.
The Samsung TA950 can be used as a 3D TV as it incorporates Freeview HDTV support, and Samsung’s Smart Hub (with access to Samsung’s Explore 3D app which offers a range of 3D content including 3D movies).
Phil Gaut, General Manager, Samsung UK Display Division said: “3D content is growing exponentially, especially in entertainment where we are seeing all major studios and gaming companies are releasing 3D titles. In the UK we have seen the launch of 3D sport become available on broadcast television and there has also been a significant rise in user generated 3D content in the form of videos and photos. The amount of content will continue to grow and in line with this trend, we have created our own distinctive 3D technology to support the increasing demand.”
Both Samsung Series 9 3D LED and HDTV Monitors are full 1920 x 1080 resolution. Samsung also claim that the Series 9 3D LED monitors can convert a 2D feed to 3D which viewers can adjust the intensity of over 10 levels.
Being shutter based monitors, the Samsung Series 9 3D LED and HDTV Monitors are 120Hz capable meaning they are compatible with the NVIDIA 3D Vision system.
The design has won an Innovation Design and Engineering Award at CES 2011. The unusual form is based on the art of origami with a silver base that is offset to the right and a paper thin bezel.
Both monitors are supplied with a pair of active 3D glasses.
